Summary of tips for having a confident walk
Think about the way you naturally walk. Some people find it helpful to film themselves walking to get an idea of how they look. You may even surprise yourself by discovering that you walk differently to the way you thought you did. What do you need to be doing to walk with a confident demeanour? Here are some pointers that may help;
1. Make sure your shoulders are back, not hunched
2. Raise your head by bringing your chin up
3. Push your chest out.
4. Let your arms move naturally by your side
Think also about the speed you naturally walk at. Some people rush around regardless of whether or not they’re in a hurry, others walk very slowly, even when they’re in a hurry. So try to find the right balance in terms of speed. Too fast could make you look in a panic or out of control. Too slow could make you look de-motivated, disinterested or hesitant and could of course make you late! People with an air of confidence and control about them walk at a measured pace. They do this even when they’re under pressure.
